Profile Description
Dr. Karuna YM completed her BDS from A.B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore and MDS (Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry) from Bapuji Dental College, Davangere both affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru. She is presently working in Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore affiliated to Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. She was identified as the best outgoing student during both BDS as well as MDS from the respective colleges and she was ranked 1st in MDS examinations at the Ravij Gandhi University level. She has also received the Most Proactive Junior Academician of the year 2017-18 by Guident Dental Academic Excellence Awards. With her keen interest in the field of research, she has been conducting studies and guiding numerous undergraduate student projects. She has multiple publications in Scopus-indexed national and international journals to her credit. The focus areas of her research include special care dentistry, preventive dentistry, and behaviour management. She has also written a Chapter on “Presurgical Nasoalveolar Moulding in the Management of Cleft Lip and Palate” in the Textbook of Paediatric Dentistry by Nikhil Marwah.
